Safe & Secure Planet Hackathon in India

The Hackathon - ‘Safe and Secure Planet’ - in India was organized with the theme of creating a proving ground for an Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem and to extend the concept of “Safe and Secure Planet” to demonstrate how key IoT challenges could be met. As the overall vision was to unite a wide range of existing IoT assets to demonstrate how the key challenges preventing wider and faster take-up of the IoT could be overcome – including interoperability, commercialisation, data trust, privacy, and security - the Hackathon had absolutely put it on a display in just 36-Hours.
For this, eyehub, one of the eight clusters of the Internet of Things, had been an open, extensible, and intelligent IoT information hub providing a set of compelling services based around the vital theme of Safety and Security and its extensibility into other domain.
This event had young talents from across the city of Hyderabad who developed applications pertaining to IoT with Safe and Secure Planet as the concept. The participants had the liberty of using any technology with the usage of the hub’s functionality and the sensor’s data provided to them by Flexeye to build meaningful applications in the two-day event. The applications thus built were judged by the experts and investors from various industries and had announced Secure Travel, City Pollution Monitoring, and Energia applications win the Hackathon.
The teams with best applications were rewarded with a cash prize of 10,000/- and the pertaining hackers were offered an Internship with Flexeye IT Services besides their applications being showcased on their behalf in the British Parliament before the top Industrialists by Flexeye Technology Limited on the 25th of March 2014.

Energia (code) which is an easy and a low cost way to monitor power usage and make smarter use of heating, air condition, and lighting systems in commercial buildings, using occupants’ real-time location by Kshitij Agrawal, Namra Maheshwari, Lakshya Khublani, and Piyush Poddar.
City Pollution Monitoring (code) a transparent system and educate stakeholders towards Air Pollution, Noise, and Temperature by Satish V. Madala, Bharath K. Madala, and Vijaya Krishna Nimmagadda.
Secure Travel (code) making public and private transport secure and safe by Vishal Thimmaraju Varun, T. Rupesh Reddy, PVS. Praneeth, V. V. Sai Karthik, and D. Deepak
